IBM developed the PS/2 port for their PS/2 PCs. This port is usually located in the back of your system unit. This type of port became an industry standard and can be found today in most PCs. These ports can connect your keyboard and mouse to the CPU.

Older PCs do not have PS/2 ports. With these PCs you must connect your mouse to a serial port and your keyboard to an older AT keyboard port. With the introduction of the PS/2, these ports became less and less popular.

A PS/2 mouse and PS/2 keyboard use a PS/2 connector to connect to your system unit.
